The BBC's handling of allegations against its presenter has been widely questioned by politicians and commentators since The Sun released a story claiming a "household name" had paid a 17-year-old for explicit images.
Speculation persists on social media, with several BBC stars releasing statements distancing themselves from the claims.
But Jonathan Shalit, chairman of the InterTalent Rights Group, thinks that the BBC has handled the controversy "quite well".
"It's very easy for politicians looking for PR moments to jump on the bandwagon and slam the BBC and talk about how it's being badly handled, but in truth, I think it's probably been handled quite well," he told Sky News.
In particular, Mr Shalit praised the decision not to name the presenter until evidence is brought forward.
"Accusations [that are] unfounded are often made against famous people and their employer has to tread with caution when those accusations are made if they are not substantiated," he said.
Claims were made in May, according to The Sun, by the alleged victim's mother but no action was taken by the BBC and it suspended the presenter only after "new allegations were put to us on Thursday of a different nature".
"From what we know, the allegations weren't substantiated back in May, they are substantiated now and [as a result] the BBC acted very quickly over the weekend [to suspend the presenter]," Mr Shalit said.
