Friendly’s employee hospitalized after car crashes into building - Eyewitness News 3

NEWINGTON, Conn. (WFSB) - A Friendly’s employee in Newington was hospitalized after a vehicle crashed into the building.

The crash occurred at 12:46 at the Friendly’s restaurant located at 3420 Berlin Turnpike.

Police said that the Toyota Sienna crashed through the south side of the building, displacing a fryolator inside the building.

Cooking oil was spilled on the employee.

“The employee suffered injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment,” police said.

There were no other injuries reported.

The crash also severed a gas line servicing the restaurant as well as an electrical line.

Connecticut Natural Gas responded to the scene and contained the gas leak.

The building department has deemed the restaurant unsafe for occupancy.

The crash is under investigation.
