The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians announced Wednesday that its chief executive officer, Loren Gill, had stepped down.

Gill stepped into the position of CEO overseeing both tribal government and business operations a little over a year ago. No reason was offered for his departure, which a statement from the tribe said was immediate.

“Loren has developed what we believe is one of the strongest teams in the country, has led our economy to record growth — and has given us a pathway for future diversification,” San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Chairman Ken Ramirez said in a statement. “He is a consummate builder and creator, and we are grateful for his contributions over the past five years.”

Laurens Vosloo, chief financial officer, will serve as interim CEO, the statement said.

Gill joined San Manuel casino as its general manager in 2015 and saw the casino through the start of its $550 million multiphase expansion. Tribal officials announced that he had moved into the role CEO in March 2019.
