Theft: Wilson Mills Road

A Home Depot employee was charged with theft at the store July 23. The South Euclid woman, 62, had been suspected of voiding transactions and collecting money for herself. Loss prevention said there were 12 incidents of theft over a month, and they totaled $6,704.

Theft: Brainard Road

An employee of a local business reported July 21 that company checks were missing, and one had been forged and cashed in the amount of $480. He said the checks were kept in an office desk with limited access by other employees. The incident is under investigation.

Theft: Wilson Mills Road

A shoplifter ran from Home Depot July 21 after approached by loss prevention but was not located by responding officers. The stolen merchandise was recovered.

Theft: North Applecross Road

A landscaping company reported July 23 that a backpack blower had been stolen from their truck while they were working at a residence. They saw a suspected vehicle in the area at the time, but officers located that vehicle and did not find the missing item. The value of the blower was estimated at $400.

Special attention: Rutland Drive

A resident reported July 23 that siding on her home was damaged and she believed it was a result of golf balls hitting it. She believed she was being targeted for having a Joe Biden yard sign.

Officers did not believe the damage was caused by golf balls.

Impaired driving: Interstate-271

An unmarked Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s vehicle stopped a vehicle driving northbound in the southbound lanes around 3 a.m. July 24. The driver, a 21-year-old Cleveland man, was subsequently arrested for OVI.

Impaired driving: Interstate-271

A vehicle struck a concrete barrier and received a flat tire around 1:45 a.m. July 26. Responding officers found the driver was impaired. The Parma man, 44, said he was on medication. He was subsequently taken to the hospital and charged with OVI.

Theft: Alpha Drive

The owner of Hibachi Japanese Steakhouse reported July 26 that an employee took $201 from the business and quit and left after an argument with another employee. Officers contacted the suspect and he said that he left the money in an apron that he left at the business. He also claimed to be the victim of racial jokes and said he would file a lawsuit against the business.
