Phoenix Sports employee tells Patrick Mahomes to worry about keeping Jackson 'out of jail' in Coyotes controversy - New York Post

The Mahomes family must be feeling the heat all the way from Phoenix.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was reminded of his younger brother, Jackson Mahomes, getting arrested on aggravated sexual battery charges after the QB suggested that the Arizona Coyotes should move to Kansas City and play at T-Mobile Center.

After a vote in Tempe, Ariz. rejected the Coyotes’ plans to build a $2.3 billion entertainment district that would include a brand new arena, Mahomes wrote on Twitter: “KC coyotes has a nice ring to it! @NHL what y’all think? @tmobilecenter.”

Many Arizona fans hit back at Mahomes, including Phoenix Sports social media director Makayla Perkins, who dismissed the idea of relocating the team to KC — and took a jab at Jackson’s legal troubles

“Maybe you should focus on keeping your little brother out of jail and less on our team,” Perkins replied to Mahomes on Twitter.

Perkins also changed her Twitter profile avatar to a meme of her holding up a piece sign near a gravestone that read: “KC Fans.”

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas appeared to support the idea in a reply tweet to Mahomes on Wednesday, that included a clapping-hands meme.

Prior to that, Lucas called out the NHL commissioner in a separate tweet, writing: “Good morning, Kansas City, surrounds, and Gary Bettman.”

The long-term fate of the Coyotes remains up in the air.

The city of Glendale opted not to renew the team’s lease at Desert Diamond Arena over a year ago and they played this past season at Mullett Arena, a 5,000-seat arena on Arizona State’s campus in Tempe.

“I hate to disappoint SO many of you but I promise I’m still gonna have a job tomorrow. You can stop tagging the account I run now,” Perkins tweeted as she received backlash from Mahomes supporters.

Mahomes has yet to publicly respond to Perkins.

Elsewhere, Jackson appears to be laying low on social media following his May 3 arrest for allegations of sexual assault from 40-year-old Aspen Vaughn, the owner of Aspen’s Restaurant and Lounge in Overland Park in Kansas City.

Vaughn has accused Jackson, 23, of forcibly kissing her and grabbing her by the throat three times, without consent, during an incident at the restaurant on Feb. 25, according to an affidavit.

Jackson has since been charged with three counts of aggravated sexual battery and an additional count of misdemeanor battery in relation to the February incident, later posting a $100,000 bond.

Jackson — a social media influencer who garnered popularity with his dancing videos on TikTok — appeared in a Kansas City court last Tuesday following his request for a modification to the bond in which he would be allowed to communicate with witnesses, with a motion stating the ban “serves no purpose other than to further isolate” the influencer.

Johnson County District Judge Thomas Sunderland ruled that Jackson can have contact with three of four witnesses under the stipulation the case is not discussed.

The fourth witness was denied permission to speak with Jackson as she is the former stepdaughter of Vaughn.

The hearing came a day after Sunderland ordered the release of a redacted affidavit, which states Jackson “grabbed [Aspen Vaughn] by the throat, forcing her head back and kissed her and put his tongue in her mouth” three times without her consent and then told her not to tell anyone.

Vaughn also provided surveillance video of the alleged assault to police, as well as the Kansas City Star, which first reported the allegations against Jackson in March.

Brandan Davies, an attorney for Jackson, said his client committed no wrongdoing in a statement in March.

Jackson’s preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 31.
