A woman's body was found inside a walk-in freezer at an Arby's in New Iberia, Louisiana on Thursday evening, local police confirmed to Insider.
The death is still being investigated, but the initial investigation does not indicate there was foul play involved, said New Iberia Police Department spokesperson Daesha Hughes. The woman who died was an employee at the Arby's restaurant in New Iberia, and her body was found by another employee, according to the spokesperson.
"A situation like this is unusual, so we're taking extra precautions during the investigation," New Iberia Police Capt. Leland Laseter told told News 15. "We pretty much have completed our process at the crime scene. After completely processing the crime scene... this does not seem like a homicide, it seems like an accident."
Laseter told News 15 that after an autopsy was completed Friday, the department would know the cause and manner of death. The woman's identity has not been confirmed.
Hughes confirmed that the New Iberia Police Department would release an announcement with more information on the investigation later on Friday.
The Arby's where the woman's body was found is located at 1120 E. Admiral Doyle Drive in New Iberia's Lagniappe Village shopping center, Hughes confirmed.
