In the past few weeks several businesses have shut down because of COVID-19 Exposure.
From bars to family fun spots, several have had an employee test positive.
"That's going to continue to happen as we go through this. No one is immune to the virus. You can pick it up in the community," said Chris Setti with the Greater Peoria Economic Development Council.
After the employer finds out what is their responsibility?
"If they don't want to work with us. The health department would actually send out a release a memo that says anyone who was at WEEK during this time on this date. You'd should get tested," said Monica Hendrickson with the Peoria City/County Health Department.
Hendrickson said that hasn't happened yet.
"Sometimes an establishment might go above and beyond and decide to close to do deep cleaning. Others have strong mitigation controls routinely as part as their norm so they may not do the full extension," said Hendrickson.
A handful of businesses have not had an employee test positive for COVID-19 but they're still shutting down or changing the way they do things as a precaution.
The Mystic Kitchen and Tasting Room is one of those.
It's keeping its indoor dining closed and continuing on with carry out and outdoor seating.
Places like Baxter's and Flingers have no positive employees but are shutting down to allow everyone to be tested before working.
"I feel bad for a lot of small business owners who are having to make these decisions. I think businesses who are open and honest with their employees they understand when there are problems," said Setti.
The health department said restaurants have some of the highest standards when it comes to sanitation.
