Kravis Center Names New CEO - Boca Raton

gandenganaja.blogspot.com

It was almost exactly a year ago that the Kravis Center was touting its successor to retiring CEO Judy Mitchell. Just four months later, however, the position would become open once again, and here we are: Another January, another appointment of a chief executive officer at the Palm Beaches’ cultural powerhouse.

Indeed, Terrence W. Dyer had barely discovered the office water cooler by the time of his unceremonious ouster last spring, in what must have been a painful decision for everyone. Hopes are high that Diane Quinn, who begins her tenure next Monday, will be a better fit for the organization.

She arrives with more than 20 years of experience in arts management, most recently as chief creative officer for Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, arguably the global leader in acrobatic spectacle. Quinn, who began her tenure with Cirque in 2004, managed more than 1,200 employees globally, and helped establish the organization’s COVID safety and wellness protocols. She also has a passion for traditional theatre, which is a major facet of the Kravis’ programming; she started three theatre companies, and spent three years helming Harvard University’s American Repertory Theater.

No stranger to the Palm Beaches, Quinn is a longtime seasonal resident of Delray Beach, and is well aware of the Kravis Center’s vitality in its community and beyond. “Few organizations have had the type of impact on an audience, a city, a state or nationally, as the Kravis Center,” Quinn said, in a press release. “Its exceptional theatrical programming, along with internationally renowned orchestras and its arts education programs, have left an indelible mark on the Palm Beach community. The Kravis Center is looking to carefully build for the future, and I see this role as an opportunity of a lifetime.

“What drives me is people,” she added. “Connecting with staff, artists and the community has always been key to my success. Whether developing strategic plans, building teams or crafting COVID-19 protocols, my ability to succeed has always come from a collaborative and personable approach to solving the problem at hand.”

From what I heard through the grapevine, this latest sentence seems to contrast pointedly with the approach of her four-month predecessor. We wish her nothing but success, and are hoping the good ship Kravis Center will once again have a visionary captain at her helm.
