ROTAN, TX -- A Rotan ISD library aid is now out of a job after she allegedly used a racial slur.
According to parent Bridget Williams, last week Vera Gonzales's stepson was at her house. This appeared to have upset Gonzales,
Williams, who is African American, alleges the district employee began sending her stepson text messages that were threatening to her.
"She said she was going to come after me or whatever that means she was going to come to my house," said Williams.
Gonzales then called her stepson and Williams heard the conversation.
"He put her on speakerphone and said you shouldn't be hanging out with those N-words with all the Black Lives Matter stuff going on because they cause trouble," said Williams.
Williams reported the slur and alleged threats to the school district.
On Thursday, Superintendent Greg Decker confirmed Gonzales "is no longer employed by the District."
Gonzales was unable to comment, but her husband told local media they would be hiring an attorney.
"I'm not rejoicing and I'm not happy she lost her job, but I am proud the Rotan ISD held her accountable," said Williams.
