An employee was found dead at Von Braun Center on Saturday night after an apparent accident that is being investigated by Huntsville Police Department.
“It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of an employee and friend of the Von Braun Center,” said a statement released by Samantha Nielsen, director of marketing and public relations for Von Braun Center.
The body was found at about 10: 30 p.m., under equipment, the statement said.
“Von Braun Center security staff discovered a fellow employee located beneath a utility cart in the maintenance area with no visible signs of life,” the statement said. “Immediately, a call was made to 9-1-1. First responders quickly arrived on-scene and the employee was pronounced dead. The incident is under investigation by HPD, but is believed to be an accident.”
The employee has not been identified publicly yet.
“We are heartbroken by this tragic loss,” the statement said. “Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends, including the many people he worked with here at the Von Braun Center. Out of respect to the employee’s family and close friends, no further information is available to be released at this time. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time.”
